Apple = Accessible

The mind of Steve Jobs must have been a pretty amazing place to create devices with such elaborate universal design built into them from the ground up. Having just finished a course in Disability Studies with a professor who was blind, I can attest to the universality of Apple's built-in features. Our professor emphasized to us the uniqueness of having a piece of technology that, straight out of the box, was something that she could grab and go without having to install numerous (expensive!) pieces of software to turn it into something that would be accessible to her. I second her sentiment: thanks, Steve :)

Here is a video posted by a blind couple who, on the occasion of Steve's death, felt they needed to say thank you to the man who was committed to making his products accessible to them. They also plead with his successors to maintain his standards in future Apple products, which is an issue I hadn't even considered.   I'm sure it would be cheaper not to include all the extra features, and they're pretty much guaranteed to have eleventy zillion people lining up to buy every new product they put out, so I'm sure there will be people in the company who argue for leaving them out to bump bottom line.

The video quality isn't great, but the sentiment is sincere.
